What Renée Otmar can do for you
Renée has been working with writers for more than 30 years — as editor, publisher, trainer, coach and colleague. She works with expert and accomplished writers as well as emerging writers, novices, students and aspiring writers. Not surprisingly, all writers have something in common: the desire to harness the power of words to communicate, educate, inform and entertain.

Training and support for writers
Renée Otmar provides skills workshops for writers who wish to focus on elements of writing craft, such as planning the book, plotting a novel, characterisation and writing effective dialogue. She also provides group and individual professional supervision for writers working with traumatic content, based on CATS.
CATS is a foundation program Renée has developed over the past decade, titled Cultivating A Trauma-Sensitive approach to writing and editing. There is a module for writers and a separate module for professional editors. The writer’s model is suitable for fiction and non-fiction writers of memoir, auto/biography, autofiction, heritage fiction and true crime who are dealing with explicit content that is potentially disturbing (for both writer and reader).
